Well, two sessions after Pike the last two weekends – result – nil points! I took peoples advice and on the deeper sections (the canal basins) I used a fast sinking leader – it got the fly down deeper but did not manage to raise a Pike from the depths. After a couple of hours [...] My wife was on nightshift – the plan was as soon as she got home I was going to have a morning Piking down at the Forth n Clyde canal. Unfortunately I had not factored in the neighbours BBQ, copious amounts of alcohol and a young chap from Bosnia who encouraged me to sample [...] We searched for Pike – jeepers we walked around a whole loch looking for them. The loch we found could not have been more Pikey – it was weedy, shallow in places and actually had trees growing in the middle of the loch. It looked like perfect Pike habitat. We attached it with plugs thinking [...] Mixed results as the season draws to a close. I have had several sessions on my other favourite river, two at the local canal for Pike and one down the Kelvin. I met Mike down at my other river for a few hours, the river was slightly high and the colour of tea but did [...] So the end of the season is almost upon us, I fished the middle Clyde on Saturday for a few hours – there was plenty of flies on the water but the trout appeared to have other things on their minds. I caught one trout on the nymph, a lovely trout that was very [...] I am particularly looking forward to giving The White Cart a bash this year, another tributary of the River Clyde. Alex has been making a killing with the Pike and is considering buying a nine weight whilst I have [...] So I was supposed to go Pike fishing on Sunday with Alex and Charlie, I was all prepared however a slight overindulgence of alcohol on Saturday evening meant that I was feeling under the weather and had to stay horizontal.
