Well, if I had to look at success with my pike fishing today by the number of fish hooked – I would say it was an excellent day with around a half dozen caught. However if success was how many I actually landed then I would have to say – none. The Pike were in [...] I am sitting here writing this between coats of paint. You see, I had scheduled in to do some painting and decorating over the weekend and this meant definitely no fishing. However, there had to be somewhere in the schedule that I could squeeze in a few hours – it turned out that if I [...] It was cold, at one point there were hailstones – it was windy and on occasion just plain old raining. This was not your usual wind, this was lazy wind – a wind that is too lazy to go around you instead it just goes through your waterproof jacket, your windproof top and into your [...] I stood outside today and noticed how cold it was – a cold lazy wind that goes right through you rather than around you. Brrrr It reminds me (or rather not actually) of the other kind of cold you can get – during summer when at one point you have been roasting hot and [...] Anyone that knows me understands I am not keen on loch fishing or competitions. So why then have I just taken part in a competition on a loch and had a thoroughly great time. So good in fact that I am really looking forward to my next session on a loch. From beginning to end [...] We slinked back to Harelaw as the conditions on the rivers have been wiped out, as it turned out the conditions on the loch were pretty poor as well. A low temperature and high wind kept the fish dour, however Brian the colourful owner of the place kept us amused with his patter as usual.
