It was raining during the night and when I left for the river it was still spitting slightly, it was also overcast and possibly a little muggy – I did not feel the east wind which has been plaguing us for a couple of weeks now. Not because I do not like Grayling – I just don’t like fishing for them. I can think of better things to do with my Saturdays than standing waist deep in freezing [...] Someone asked me to elaborate on the conversation I had with the farmer regarding the cows drooling on my car. I am not a big fan of cows; I don’t trust anything which looks as if it could trample you to death. Sure, I am told they are docile but I don’t want to be [...] Arrived at the river around 0830, there was a nip in the air although an occasional blast of sunshine heated me up nicely as I walked along the river bank. I met another angler ambling along the bank towards me – we exchanged pleasantries – it turns out he was going to fish bait – [...] It rained all day on Saturday – call this August – feels more like March as the temperature is low as well. Feels like the start of the season when you go fishing just because you can, a bit of respite after a long cold winter – you know there will be no action or [...] Work, study and fly fishing collide – the result, an increase in migraines and twitchy weather watching. The weather has turned into almost spring like conditions, there is hardly any hope of an evening session, and temperatures are too low.
