Two sessions of Pike fishing since we last spoke – both strange for different reasons – both occasions I have been using my Loop Pike Booster with a floating 9WF line, 3 foot 30lb leader and a bizarre EP fibre monstrosity.
The First Session (overcast, warm – lasted 3 hours)

Up at 0300 on Saturday morning for a dawn raid on a Pike venue – dawn was scheduled for 0430 however when the guys came to pick me up just before 0400 (by jings early as well) the dawn was already in the sky – by the time we got to the venue it was [...]
The North Glasgow Fly Dressers decided to have a winterfest day out fishing for Pike on a trout loch not far from Glasgow. “Stuffed full of em’” Alberto said – I thought it may be too cold – “it is not about the fishing” he said – “it is about the company and chat – [...]
Fishing was damn near impossible today – from the road the wind did not seem too bad however the closer I got to the spot it picked up in intensity. The whole area was flooded as well making wading tricky. It would have been no problem without the wind however casting those big horrors was [...]

Fished for Pike all day, cast maybe a thousand times, caught nothing. It rained on and off and was cold and windy.
At the end of the day the felt sole was sucked off my orvis boots by a bog.

Where is this obsession going to end – it started out with a hankering for some Summer Pike around a month ago (that was when I last went after trout if you remember). Then after catching a couple of nice Pike I wanted to get a double figure fish…now I feel my old [...]
No trout again this week I am afraid – I have a mission you see – an obsession if you will- I want to catch a double figure Pike on the fly rod….today alas it was not me, however I am getting close – oh yes, so close….
It is always worrying when you take [...]
