River Kelvin Angling Association 2013 AGM

17 January, 2013 by Alistair

It is that time of year again – the finer points of urban river management will be discussed, the accounts will be scrutinized and suggestions made about how the association shall make more money for the urban rehab plan.  People volunteering for roles and odd jobs…

Just kidding!

It is the River Kelvin Angling Association AGM!

Characters!

This years River Kelvin Angling Association Annual General Meeting will take place at 7pm, on the 7th of February 2013. The meeting will be held at Bearsden Town Hall, 69 Drymen Road.
Invites will be posted to those that were members during 2012, you will need to bring your invite to gain entry. If you have not received your invite by the 25th of January, contact the Secretary. Please bring any unused tags that you might have to enter our free membership draw. Raffle tickets and RKAA merchandise will also be available for sale on the night.

RKAA Fleece (including free choice of hat) – £30
(large and medium sizes are limited, please get in touch if you want to reserve one)
RKAA Hat (skip cap or beanie) – £6

We have taken on feedback from previous meetings, and therefore this years AGM will stick strictly to the agenda which will be posted on the fishkelvin website a week in advance. Copies will be available on the night. Other feedback has highlighted occasions where members have turned up on the night and attempted to steer the AGM towards individual issues. Members are reminded that issues and grievances can be raised at any point through the year by contacting the committee.

If you have a specific proposal that you would like added to the agenda, we would ask that you submit it in advance by contacting the Secretary. If you would like to discuss the matter with the committee face to face, we will be holding an open forum in the Islay Inn (Argyle Street) on the 1st of February at 7pm. Feel free to come along, even if it’s just for a chat.

Time for discussion on proposals will be allotted, however due to time constraints it will be limited. In order that this meeting can progress as smoothly as possible, members are asked to adhere to the following guidelines.

– One singer one song. To avoid interruptions, please raise your hand and wait to be acknowledged before you make your point.
– For the benefit of those taking notes, please stand and state your name before addressing the hall.
– Please speak up, and talk as clearly as possible.
– Be polite. Listen to others when they are speaking. There will be breaks for chat, cigarettes etc.
– Show respect for other association members, even if their views are not the same as your own.

This years news letter will also be posted on the fishkelvin website early next week. If you would like a hard copy, please send a stamped addressed envelope to Box 441, Mailboxes etc. 145 Kilmarnock Road. Glasgow G41 3JA.

For people not from Glasgow you should be aware that in the past the meetings have been a bit of a rammy with accusations of all kinds of shenanigans being thrown about however at the end of the night everyone ends up shaking hands and saying they had a great nights entertainment and it is a great way to start the season.

If you follow me on twitter I announced I would be tweeting live from the event for a laugh, I may not go that far however you may get the odd picture sent from the stage.

If you read this blog and attend please come up and say hello, obviously I will not be able to chat long however it makes my day when folk say hi. If you fancy a chat come along to the Islay Inn on the 1st February and I will let you buy me a pint!

See you there!

Sounds like the same fun meeting I have every year at one of the German syndicates I
    am enrolled in.
I always wonder when the verbal abuse will get physical 🙂

I`ll bet your German Syndicates are nothing at all like this lol You would need an interpreter to have any chance of understanding some of the speakers (?) that attend a Kelvin AGM.

Alistair, don`t have your email add. so can`t send you the pic.

cannot even be bothered coming to the meetings to listen to the usual lowlife talking utter shite as if they give a toss about the association or the river system…it’s about time some of them were banned…

Well Peter, they speak German 🙂
Luckily the dialect on my side of the border aka the Netherlands
and those on the other size … sze Germans is very similar.

But yes, I think I would need an interpreter to understand anything
    at a Kelvin AGM
