You would be forgiven with thinking that I have done pretty much no fishing over the last couple of weeks – you would in fact be wrong – I have had two trips after trout – one to my small shit pipe stream and one to the Clyde. The Shit Pipe Stream was weird [...] Apologies to folk who received a rough draft of this post by email. A cold front started to move in over the weekend – the reasonable temps of last week gave way to temps in the single figures Saturday and Sunday – Saturday I went to the Zoo (and ran into Mike from Tamanawis at the Monkeys) however Sunday [...] While all you suckers were out working last week I took the day off and ended up with a mid week belter of a session on the Clyde – overcast and warm conditions (the river was also a little high and coloured) meant I caught around 2 dozen trout on the dry [...] Bemused at lack of trout action… Thursday – hot – roasting hot – Glasgow was boiling – overcast and oppressive – Kelvin has no water so we headed to the big sister/brother The Clyde in search of some kind of evening rise – it was even hotter out that way with the added problem of there being no clouds – [...] It is sometimes easy to see why some people think the Kelvin is not an urban river – especially from the pictures that I post on this site. You see – there is a green corridor that cuts through Glasgow and down this passageway the Kelvin runs – the corridor has its [...] Decided on fishing the Kelvins big sister/brother as a pass was given at the last minute – it looked like it was going to be good conditions – overcast and windy – so where did it all go wrong? Well for a start it was cold, and a north easterly [...] I thought I had hit the river at the right time, I gazed rather pessimistically (it must be said) at the river – it was the colour of strong tea and up around a good foot and half – that is a lot of water coming down. The venue was the Clyde however I [...] It has been pretty much non stop fishing from early Saturday morning until now – Sunday late afternoon. Saturday We had a crazy plan to try and catch 4 species – Pike, Trout, Sea Trout and Mackerel. It turned out we enjoyed fishing for the trout just a little too much and so missed [...] Not sure what happened today – fished the Clyde with little success. It was warm, overcast and little wind. There were several types of flies hatching, Yellow Mays, A large type olive and then this tiny little olive. I still managed to winkle out a few trout – this [...] |
