So I found myself taking a stoat along beside the River Leven today as it was on my journey. I seen a couple of Salmon fly fishers out and a fair few bait and spin fishers too. I came up to the barrage gates and wondered whether this place was still hammered by bait fisherman. [...] It’s all quiet on the fishing side after the “pike†fishing trip last week. Last week I even missed my fly tying night as I was stuck in the house doing some painting. Started my new job on Monday, now that wss a scary prospect. I got my new contract through and I see there [...] Ah yes, that was what I said…..a deep river…I have caught Pike there in the past…hell Claire caught Pike their in the past…..except now we will be armed and dangerous!! Where did it all go wrong? We had wire traces, giant plugs that rattled (mine cost £1.50 but Alex bought Rapalas at 10 [...] Sometimes last minute fishing trips can be quite good, anything can happen, you can turn up and there is a lovely hatch or you are there just at that point when the trout just seem to want to eat just about any old fly (generally any old fly is the one I use anyway). The [...] So I had a very short session today down at one of the tributaries. I had to wait in for a phone call about a job so did not have much time. It was cold, so cold that I could see my breath. After I had caught my first trout…. …..my hands were pretty cold [...] I realised almost instantly that I had made a wrong decision. Ordinarily it would not have mattered I would just give my better half a phone but this time it was different: I had lent her my mobile phone as she was going on a night out. I had arranged for my future mother in [...] It’s now pissing down with rain out there. It has been warm and overcast all day, I suppose threatening it really but I thought like yesterday it would not come to anything. I was supposed to be fishing the River Gryffe and was going to get the train but my better half decided to give [...] So I went along to one of the Kelvin tributaries for a little evening session, after that heavy rain it was up around a foot and a little dirty. There was fish rising so I knew it was worth a bash.. I was using my little Tea Stick rod which is absolutley perfect for this [...] |
