There was a time that I felt all alone fishing an urban river – dirty smelly places where no “real” angler would venture (at least that was the impression I was given).
However these days urban fishing appears to be all the rage and everyone wants in on the act – Singlebarbed (no introduction needed)loves it, Urban Fly Fishing – a blog dedicated to urban fly fisherman in Southern California goes crazy for it, The Urban Fly Flikr – loves Urban Fly Fishing anywhere there’s water, Roughfisher – believes the path of enlightenment for a roughfisher isn’t about the fish itself, but rather the journey getting there (probably the bus) and finally Primal Fly Fishing who holds carp as if they were bazookas. They are all fantastic blogs and I urge you to add them to your places to visit !
Hell I did not know this whole “brownlining” thing was getting trendy until I was interviewed for the Wall Street Journal – you can read my input here.
Dont worry – I wont let my trend setting ways go to my head!
It was only a matter of time. They are all top blogs though.don’t know whether you’ve seen this blog Alistair http://swittersb.wordpress.com/ not a bad read from a German.

we’re all posers… Well maybe just me. I don’t fish urban streams much, but won’t shy away from an opportunity. you and Keith are one of the brown water Gods, for sure.
the roughfisher’s last blog post..DIY rod tubes
Hey Simon – looks looks a sweet blog, I will need to check it out!
Roughfisher – I just wish I could actually catch a fish I could hold like a bazooka!
I’m not sure that Visit Scotland or whatever they are called nowadays would appreciate this though.
“In Glasgow, —————–fishes in holes on the River Kelvin known locally as Sanitary-Towel Pool and Petrol Pool.” 🙂
And then there’s that well known local miscreant Jeremiah Quinn – of the blog of the same name.
Former pugilist, Raconteur, Bon Viveur and urban fly fisher of repute.
Sadly Mr Quinn’s excellent website has been down for some time, i have emailed him on behalf of his readership seeking assurance of it’s reappearance. He assured me that it would be up and running again by the end of a month, that month will be up on the 4th of May – please put it in your diary. He did indeed concede that were his website not back up I was licensed to mock him ceaselessly until normal service is resumed.
JQ – I know you’re reading this – think of it as horses head on your pillow.

I was wondering about Jeremiah – I had been trying to access it for the last couple of weeks.
He has still to fish the Kelvin!
Pretty soon rivers will be judged not by the size of the fish in them, but by the number of shopping carts and abandoned cars they contain, and Alistair will wearing rock star sunglasses and touring the country.
Simply put, life as we formerly knew it is over.

Or even possibly by the number of blogs dedicated to em’
“Oh yea sure , the white river? – got a few blogs – some pretty good too – don’t need to fish it now”
Many moons ago, Alistair brought the entire concept home with a post on riding the bus in waders. Little did he know how many impressionable young lads he was tainting forever…
Long live the King.
KBarton10’s last blog post..Wherein the author eats massive crow and exposes his mincing, Poseur nature to the jeers of an angry throng
I hear you talking about me! OK, I realise I’ve been very remiss, but I’m about to start my blog. Honest.
And I have some really good stories for you.
And I want to fish the Kelvin badly.
Hey Jeremiah – where you been ?
You been out fishing?
