All my fishing plans over the last few weeks have totally went fubar.
Typical example – this afternoon I was driving home when I realized my Mother n’ Law could possibly be at my house – now that I have two boys then two people must be there to assist with putting them to bed. I telephoned Atkins who was already at the river – he had just lost a grilse and things were looking up for another, I told him my plan was to get home, ask the Mother n’ Law if she could help my wife and then me to head to the river for some Salmon action.
The plan reeked of awesomeness !
I pulled into my car park and the first thing I noticed was the lack of Mother n’ Law car. Instantly my dreams were shattered..
Here is a picture of a double rainbow I took when out for a walk with the boys.
Damn and blast!
At least your getting out… i have been stuck in for 2 months due to illness, after this next lot of rain i hope to have a few casts..if i had hair i’d be pulling it out lol.
Nae luck Davie, hope you get better soon, and gives us a bell when your planning a trip to the K and we’ll hook up for a cast
Alistair, nae luck also re yesterday, but looks good for today !
I think I saw somewhere on a fishing supply web site that there was a possibility to purchase a Nanny for just the type of situation you described. They were even trained to have all your gear ready for you. The most expensive model even tied flies!

Hope you don’t mind my using your thread to tell my past weekend story.
This past Saturday I was a geared up and ready to head to the stream when my 5 year old told me she wanted to come along and ride on the kayak. I explained I wasn’t taking the kayak, but was wading. She then goes to mom and told her she wasn’t allowed to go fishing with me.
After a lot of negotiation, we ALL three agreed to walk along the river, fish a bit, skip some rocks, & watercolor. She caught wee fish on a worm, and I on a 24 midge. No trout but at least I got to fish.
Surely this Nanny would only be supplied by Orvis?
Sounds like you had a great session Chuck – at the moment the boy just wants to throw stones at the water which means the fish are usually nowhere near us 🙂
OH NO, you said the ‘O’ word!
