I am laid up with a rather nasty throat bug.
I was looking through some of the blogs I visit when I came across this post over at Taunted by Waters.
Essentially someone had linked to him and pointed out that he did not do much fishing however his writing was good for a read anyway. It reminded me of when someone linked to me and stated “this guy does not do much urban fishing for an Urban Fly Fisher”
Good point I thought – consequently, a year later I decided to add a wee amendments to my “About page” as to why this site is called Urban Fly Fisher.
Explained?
Taunted by waters is the writings of Jeffrey Prest – the features editor of Trout Fisherman. He has a knack for telling it how it is. He did an article recently about the £9000 Chanel fly fishing kit. It was hilarious!
For Charlie Dunn. Charlie, you asked on the forum about any recommendations for a double handed salmon rod, well i have been using the Shakespeare Oracle for three seasons now and can’t fault it. I learnt to spey cast witrh it and it was certainly much more forgiving of my mistakes than any other rod that i’ve used. Another tip, aprt from very exceptional circumstances i always use an intermediate line. Only in high water condtions or in the very early part of the season would i add a polyleader to get the flee down to the fish. Yesterday, i had a lovely, fresh 10lb’er on the flee, a fitting end to what has been an amazing season. The beat i fish has recorded 465 fish this season !!!
Cheers Alan-i’ll check that out,by the way,do you know if they supply those in 12ft models?.Incidently-i notched up my fifteenth of the season on tuesday-a nice cean wee fish of about 4.5lbs,not bad considering i’ve only fished for a total of about 10 hours in total for october!
Charlie , they do the Oracle in 12, 14 and 15ft models.
