Only one person agrees with me that the summer is old and weary – even on the hottest sunny days the sun feels lower and there is a sense of decay and coldness on its way.
I hit the Kelvin for a few hours after work the other evening, it was dusk at just past 8 and dark by 9pm. I fished several pools on the dry without anything sticking and finally got one on the nymph.
I walked upriver to long slow deep stretches of water where sometimes you can sometimes see big trout sporadically taking flies – there was none this evening.
The river needs a good clean out, the trout are getting spooky and the Salmon anglers are getting restless. The usual August rain which prompts the Salmon anglers to give us a bit of excitement has not happened however I guess it may still come!
See you where I can find some water…
