Bloody hell that was a quick season.
One minute it was May and I was hanging around enjoying every other midweek day off and suddenly I am looking at new waistcoats for Christmas as my trusty old Hardy waistcoat has somehow shrunk over the last few years.
I had also started to use my chest pack down the river however had become increasingly annoyed by the fact that I could not see my feet when walking – plus the fact when I went to get something out of the back part I had to take the full thing off was annoying. So I have decided to upgrade the old gear carrying system and am hopefully getting a new waistcoat for Christmas. Also after the shenanigans with losing (and finding again) my gravel guard another pair of waders is on the cards – speaking of which, what do you actually do with an old pair of leaky waders? I remember a company that would turn them into wallets n’ stuff however not seen them on the go for a while.
When I look back on the 2022 season it felt awesome – starting with my shit pipe river and a new haunt on another favorite stream made it memorable for many different reasons.
And of course the Kelvin was its usual awesome!
One river that really let me down this year was my highland river – I had fished it a few times and on each occasion it just did not fish well. I reckon I would be better travelling the extra half an hour to the main river instead of the tributory – we will see how my Wednesday fun time pans out next year.
See you pondering Xmas gifts!
You mention how fast the season has passed, wait until you get into your 70’s and see time fly by!!
Already looking forward to next season as I am sure you are–thanks for sharing
Cheers Loyd – do you take some time off fishing through the winter months?
