You know, this just happens to be the longest running personal blog dedicated to fly fishing on the net. I remember when I started this I had a good hunt around and could not find any others. I mean, others spoke about fishing but also had a fair chunk of other stuff as well. Since I have started this blog I have had a fair few emails from people who have started up their own blogs because of the rubbish….. nonsense and occasionally the highly skilled advice that I give (generally that I have gained from other people).
So anyway, every now and then I check my links just to make sure people are still linking and to see if anyone new is linking to me and came up with this little blog. It is a guy in Wales called Gareth Lewis who takes some nice pictures and sometimes even falls in his river. A guy I would like to fish with!
Check it out! Fly Fishing in South Wales
Nice link.
My own blog really only serves as a fishing diary to remind myself how a day went. I still cant seem to emulate your style.
If I dont fish I generally dont blog, which is where I fall down.
Keep up the good work and if you’re ever in the Bristol area drop me an email and we’ll do a bit of ‘sub-urban’ fishing River Chew style.
Hi Chris,
Here is a couple of tips.
1. Turn on your comments so that anyone can post a comment rather than just people from blogger. There has been a couple of times I have went to post a comment but cant be bothered signing up for an account.
2. Link to blogs- this is a crucial one, get a bunch of fly flishing blogs and link to them all- they will eventually notice traffic coming from your blog and will link back. You can get away without linking back ony if your content is outstanding.
3. Set yourself a schedule- say once a week or twice a week to post, people will then excpect a post and come and see it. If it is sporadic then they might get pissed off and dont bother. If you have not been fishing post about another blog or website , they will give you traffic back 🙂
Hope that helps
Alistair
Thanks for the mention Alistair! Really appreciate it!
If you’re ever down my way and fancy some fishing, give me a shout.
Gareth
Sounds good to me Gareth, that looks like a real sweet place you fish 🙂
