For the Sea Trout I'll be goin for the usual blue, black silver furry things. I like wee doubles…………..Teal Blue & Silver, Medicine fly, Peter Ross and all that stuff. I've not tried the fly here yet but I'm sure all these will work. Fish them down and across just like Salmon fishing.

Two posts regarding flies on the blog jump out at me:
http://urbanflyfisher.com/early-season-flies-part-one/
http://urbanflyfisher.com/early-season-flies-part-two/
If I were you I would get back to basics and invest in some casting lessons, I would then do as much reading as possible - a book I like is

It takes a few seasons to get the hang of fishing with the fly and you pretty much never stop learning.

I've only just got my ticket yesterday so I went out last night after work for a couple of hours and got a nice trout of 3/4lb so I was very pleased! I usually go for the same flies when I fish the rivers and my top one has got to be a Waterhen & Black. Some black spiders and something like a Black Magic would do the trick as well. Maybe a Greenwell's Glory or a small Black Pennel would be worth a go. Most of the time I fish a size 14 and sometimes down to size 16, casting across and slightly down, mending the line as it travels downstream.
