Join the commitee…Hmm-na,dont think so,although not sure wether you mean the FORK mob,or the KAA.Dont need to join the fork team because i help clear the river anyway, dont want to join the kaa's commitee, because they're all full of shit(in my opinion, and i'm sure many others). As i've said before any commonsense suggestions for the river, would fall on deaf ears, and no doubt they would stop inviting me to the meetings-as they did with yourself,Alistair.

Yes, the Kelvin has regular AGMs - usually in January/February - the accounts are presented by the treasurer.

I pulled this from a great forum I visit:
Civil law applies to fishing without permission from the owner of the fishing, all they can do is ask you to leave. If you don't they have to get the police to come and move you on, if you still fail to comply the police will charge you with breach of the peace, not with poaching, as you are fishing with legitimate means but without permission.
Link
I trust the author of the post - so it looks like if you did for brown trout only without a permit there is pretty much nowt anyone would do about it.

But as the guy in the article says ” It's a minefield” . On a river which comes under a Protection Order I believe fishing without a Permit to be a Criminal Offence as distinct from fishing for brownies on a river which is not under a P.O. Same scenario on a river with Salmon and Brownies in and it would be different again .

I have read all the posts by you guys who are unhappy about the way your river is being run and the only advice I can give is to get along to the local club AGM and ask some of the questions you have been asking here. It's the only way things will change.
Why don't you get together a group of like minded anglers and go “mob handed” to give the committee a hard time and maybe even get one (or even more) of you elected then you can have an influence on future decisions.
My own club (Avon Angling Club) is very well run but only because a number of people are interested enough to do something about the things that are important to them and make sure the river is well managed. We stock the river twice a year, have our own hatchery, a fly tying club and regular competitions, outings and social events.
I dont want to seem to be preaching to you guys but ” GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE THINGS THAT ARE BOTHERING YOU”

Andy, maybe that what's needed to give the people currently running the KAA a KAA up the arse and get them doing something usefull to manage the river better. It' amazing what some verbal agro (make sure it's only verbal) can do. At the very worst it will let them see that the people who matter, the guys who pay their money and fish the river, are not content to let them get away with doin he haw any longer.

Another thing you could is get a hold of a copy of the KAA Constitution, (this should be available to all club members on demand from the Secretary) read through it a couple of times to see if there is anything in it that is not being done or if you think the wording could be improved. The constitution should also tell you how to go about getting people elected to the committee.
I wish I was a member, I love verbal agro.

As the Salmon fishing belongs to the Crown there should be Crown Bailiffs patrolling the river.Until this happens nothing will change. People (if you can call them that) will still fish on Sundays, out of season etc.
All salmon should be returned before the 1st of June and all hen fish should be returned in October.
