wasnt talking about race…. anyone who kills big pike should be educated … trout fishermen at kilbirnie especially…they kill pike 20lb+…i only said polish because the majority i see taking pike and all fish from any waters are Polish.. there were a few dams in paisley that held big pike and decent perch (i took a pair of 3lb ers)… they now hold no pike and little perch …
but a posted this… to see if anyone had caught a rainbow trout inthe kelvin

I would not strictly say its the Polish, as Romanians, Albanians and Chinese folk are just as guilty for taking fish.
Personally I have been asked many times by Eastern European and Oriental folk for fish i was releasing back into the canal when im on a days coarse fishing. The standard “NO” reply is given and most people leave be, however myself and my buddies have almost taken to some more stubborn people in for an impromptu swim.
Did you know that by law any fish caught in freshwater under in Germany has to be killed by law? Was just told that by a German friend of mine who is a coarse match fisherman over there. I can only wonder how they can control their dwindling fish population.

Yes, and they must sit an exam on how to fish before they are allowed to - many I reckon would not pass it over here!

An exam would be good, but i think the strict kill policy is archaic. Education is the best way to ensure that people respect their quarry. I hate seeing people roughly handling fish, especially fish they do not value as a good sport.

the Polish should be in Poland…sick of seeing them hauling pike and everyother thing in the water out and taking home… Need to educate them on sport fishing ..and if they dont listen then re educate them with a bat!!
Actually Davy it was yourself that started the discussion on how best to educate people on good fishing practces (see above)
Anyway, you are quite right it is not to my taste to discuss what nationality anyone is and what they do or dont do.
As the law stands anyone can kill coarse fish for food whatever nationality they are.
I am as concerned about Scottish anglers mis handling fish as i am with anyone else.

I wonder what there reasoning is behind the kill all approach - I doubt it works - if you lived in germany and you fished a wee stream would you not just slip the fish back anyway and if anyone asked just say you had cought nowt
