Fished for Pike all day, cast maybe a thousand times, caught nothing. It rained on and off and was cold and windy.
At the end of the day the felt sole was sucked off my orvis boots by a bog.
…and some you lose!

Fished for Pike all day, cast maybe a thousand times, caught nothing. It rained on and off and was cold and windy. At the end of the day the felt sole was sucked off my orvis boots by a bog. …and some you lose! Where is this obsession going to end – it started out with a hankering for some Summer Pike around a month ago (that was when I last went after trout if you remember). Then after catching a couple of nice Pike I wanted to get a double figure fish…now I feel my old [...] No trout again this week I am afraid – I have a mission you see – an obsession if you will- I want to catch a double figure Pike on the fly rod….today alas it was not me, however I am getting close – oh yes, so close…. Usually it is only at the end of the trout season I turn to the toothy beasts however this year the urge has got me early. Oh yea baby, and with Pike size does in fact matter – [...] So to try and combat the east wind curse instead of going after trout today I decided to go after Pike on Loch Lomond. To cut a long story short I caught nothing however did manage to watch several Pike spawning amongst the weeds. This was after I had covered an enormous amount [...] So I decided that as the Pike seemed to be switched on to miss out on the usual first day of the trout season shenanigans and head out again after Pike. The reasoning was that: We never do well on the first day of the season anyway (the first couple of weeks actually) It [...] |
