Fishing the Leven

In a smilar vein to my Urban Fly Fishing on the Kelvin site we have a website entitled “Fishing the Leven”. Some nice images of the River Leven, for my American readers the Leven is a river that runs out of Loch Lomond into the Clyde. The Kelvin also runs into the Clyde but is [...]

Small Stream Action (or rather the lack of it)

So I was thrown out the house today as my fiancé had someone coming around to give here a “preview” of what her make up would look like on our wedding day. “You will just have to go fishing” She said! “If you insist”

As it turned out the smaller tributary was pretty low. Yesterday [...]

Evening Session!

So a couple of friends and I went to our little spot on the other river that we know for an evening session. It was hard fishing from the outset, it was totally in contrast to the other evening when it was hard fishing but at least there was plenty of fish actually rising. Emanuele [...]

Rubbish!

So Claire wanted to go to a shop that ran next to one of the Kelvin tributaries. First of all I was impressed as I could see some trout rising right next to a wall that is part of a supermarket. The water “ok” although there was a couple of shopping trolleys and a rather [...]

Evening session, could have been worse!

Hiya, so I got a text at around 6pm asking me if I wanted to go for an evening session on another river. It was roasting hot, not a cloud in the sky, no wind and I thought why the hell not. I was supposed to go to the Kelvin commitee meeting but could i [...]

River Tummel!!

This River Tummel starts its life 60 miles to the west of Pitlochry on the windswept Rannoch Moor close to Glencoe. It begins as the River Ba and runs east passing through numerous lochs including Loch Ba, Loch Laidon, Loch Eigheach, Loch Rannoch, Dunalastair Water, Loch Tummel and finally Loch Faskally, until it reaches the [...]

Small Stream fun!!

So after giving my new Bamboo rod the once over on the Kelvin I thought I would have a wee bit small stream action. There was not many flies moving on the water but it was overcast with just a little wind so the trout were feeling quite safe My first fish came to hand……..on [...]

Boy was it HOT!

I think we were being a little optimistic to think that we could start fishing at 10am and then continue right through to 10pm in the evening. If the conditions had been ideal then it would have been tough, however it was boiling hot, the water was low (good), no wind(great) and the trout were [...]

Up since around 5am!

So I woke at around 5am with the phone ringing. Had to put up a distressed relative a little worse for booze. Seeing as how I can not get back to sleep I tied some size 24 parachutes in preparation for my day away fishing. I hope that by 2pm I am not absolutely shattered. [...]

Camping!!

So I and my lovely assistant/fiancé decided to get away for a night at the weekend. As it was lovely on Saturday we got in the car and belted up to a little Glen we know just before Glen coe. We pitched our tent, opened up the red wine, I had a cigar and then [...]
