Lanyards

So I really enjoyed Mikes post about his new “lanyard of power”. I met Mike down at the Glasgow Angling Centre when he was trying to get the materials together to actually start his lanyard project and he was looking forward to it then. Now that he has completed it (or at least went into [...]

Greetings

Greetings from Urban Fly Fisher previously known as Urban Fly Fishing on the Kelvin

Pull up a chair, take your shoes off. Have a drink – I shall not be posting for a few days so why dont you have a flick through the archives. I am just waiting for everyone to catch up! [...]

A trout of any size…

So more Salmon than ever are running the Kelvin – this means more fisherman will be going after them. With this news I am rubbing my hands in glee as Salmon are a fish I have no interest in catching. Well, when I say that, what I mean is I have no interest other than [...]

I fish because…

A pal lent me a book a while ago and a paragraph came back into my mind as I have been analysing exactly why I enjoy fly fishing for trout so much. Robert Traver was a man I would have liked to fish with I think

I fish because I love to; because I love [...]

I was visiting the Glasgow Angling Centre the other day with Mike and we got around to discussing hooks as you do when you meet up with any angler in the close season. Discussions in the close season all come around to fishing eventually, usually a lot more in-depth conversations are to be had during [...]

Rain, rain and a bit more rain (with some extas)

If you do not live in Scotland then I don’t have to tell you the weather has been bad. For my international readers I can tell you the Scotland is stuck with an area of low pressure that is causing wild winds, torrential rain, thunder n lightning (with hailstones) and generally making fishing impossible. When [...]

Its all happening…

So tonight is like a replay of last week- I am going to a comedy club and I have plans to go fishing tommorow. This time there will be little alcohol involved and tommorrow a Pike Bonanza!

Looking forward to it !

Ask me a question, on you go… ask!!

Ok, I am taking questions, this is not because I have ran out of things to write about (honest) but because it is now the close season and it would be nice to know what my punters (you) want to know. Of course you might think I am some kind of expert in angling or [...]
